Varsity Scout Leaders Monthly Memo

Manila Varsity Coaches / Teachers Advisers,

Thank you to the 3rd, 11th and 8th wards who have already RSVP'd for our stake's Varsity Vision over-nighter.  If you missed my other email, this is a special course that is mainly for units in our stake (although we'll probably have others there).  The objective of the course is to train your Varsity Team (youth and adults) on the Varsity program while having fun at the same time.  It's a great way to get everyone in your unit on the same page.  The course will be held on April 26-27.  The cost is $10 per participant (youth and adults) and includes all food.  For those that have not yet responded, please let me know if your Team/Quorum is planning on attending.

OTHER STUFF!

Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge Round-up on January 26th at the Mahogany building at 8am.

University of Scouting - Some great training is being offered by our council this year.  If you have not heard the "Trails to Testimony" training from Brad Harris (former LDS YM board member), I recommend it.  Register online: http://www.utahscouts.org/university-of-scouting/50774

Our stake is now in the Alpine District.  We are looking forward to our association with all the great leaders in the Alpine District.  Because of this move, Roundtable is now on the 2nd Thursday each month, with the exception of next month, it will be on the first Thursday, February 6th (due to Valentines).  For information on district activities, visit the Alpine District Website - http://alpinedistrictbsa.com/

January Varsity Vision Newsletter - Click Here  Learn what is happening in our council for Varsity scouts.

Leader Specific Training - Our previous district held these during Roundtable.  Our new district does not yet offer this.  If you or one of your adult leaders need training on the Varsity program, let me know, we schedule a training just for the leaders of our stake.

Again, if you could let me know what your plans are for our Varsity Vision over-nighter that would be great! :-)

Thanks for all you do for your young men!

Varsity Lego League Service Project

Hello Varsity Scouts & Parents,

LEGO LEAGUE SERVICE PROJECT

We have an all Saturday service project from 7AM – 3:00PM on January 12th (this Saturday).  The Varsity Scouts will actually be judging Lego robots and battles at a regional qualifier of the Utah Lego League.  THIS IS OUR MAJOR SERVICE PROJECT FOR THE QUARTER, and we would like all to come.  The location of the event is the Cedar Hills Golf Club, and we will meet at Brother Smith’s house at 6:30AM for Donuts and Hot Chocolate to get us going!  I am thinking Daylight Donuts…oh yeah!

If you have basketball games, etc, we will make arrangements so you can go and come back.  You will also be trained in what you need to do, and get a free shirt! Woohoo!

Please go the following link and register as a volunteer tonight or tomorrow latest.  Please shoot me an email (csmith@byu.net) or text (801-362-4188) to let me know you have signed up and are coming.  Registration takes like 20 seconds…maybe 25 seconds if you are sight impaired.

Thank you,
Charlie Smith
